I was in the car with my 8 year old son, whom is a devout Weird Al fan. I had an mp3 version of an old Rodney on the Roq radio show from 1979. The show played the new punk that was coming out of the UK at the time ( 999, Stiff Little Fingers, etc.) and the usual Rodney, anything Beach Boys soundalike bands.
Peppered throughout the show is some of the early Dr. Demento parody music. One such track was indicative of the times was a 'Barbara Ann' parody called 'Bomb Iran'. It truly represented the anti-Iran tone of the country and, would NEVER be tolerated today. Nevertheless, my son sat and laughed in shock at the lyrics:
