The way my kids talk and discuss the inner workings of Minecraft resemble the exact way my 8 year old self talked with his friends about the band KISS. KISS was our currency and our connector. It seems so weird but we really did put a lot of importance on a single rock band, and in a sense that became a language, that only we understood.
The same excitement, fervor and jargon are used by my kids with video games. The Minecarfts, Fornites and Roblox are the new rock. The way they carry on and on about all of the politics, details and ideas that stem from these games, and very much to my indifference ( though i DO Have many peers whom play these games as enthusiastically as their kids do) kind of like the parent who brought their kid to the rock concert back in 1978!
